Tips for St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg
The western city in the north of Russia quickly became something special and not at all Russian, for Czar Peter the Great intended his window to the west to be European in style, with a bit of Prague, a pinch of Vienna, and at its core Amsterdam.
Hence this city with its wide avenues, parks, waterside promenades, and countless bridges sparkles with its open-minded yet reserved Nordic atmosphere. There is a constant bustle on the Nevski Prospect - the best known of the handsome boulevards - but not a hectic tumult. One magnificent grand palace is resplendent alongside another. Superb town houses, merchant's houses, and churches of many denominations line up alongside one another: the Lutheran St. Peter's, Roman Catholic St. Catherine's, and the Russian Orthodox Kazan cathedral. Countless cafes and restaurants entice one to linger and be lost in admiration, but also the literary cafe once known as Wolf & Beranger that was a second home to Alexander Puschkin.
St. Petersburg, Russia
Founded by Tsar Peter the Great on May 16(27), 1703 as a "window to Europe", it served as the capital of the Russian Empire for more than two hundred years. St. Petersburg ceased being the capital when the capital was moved to Moscow after the Russian Revolution of 1917. With about 4.8 million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, Saint Petersburg is Russia's second-largest city, Europe's eleventh largest metropolitan area, a major European cultural center, and the most important Russian passenger port on the Baltic. The city has a total area of 1439 square km, which makes it the second biggest city in terms of area among cities with over a million inhabitants in Europe, after London.
St. Petersburg is a clear product of a drawing board, created on impracticable, mosquito infested marshland at risk of flooding at high tide between the numerous tributaries in the Neva delta. But this was the only spot where Russia had access to a Western European sea and could acquire Western European culture.

Saint-Petersburg

Saint-Petersburg is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Beginning from the 18 century the best achievements were put in practice in Saint-Petersburg. It is here there splendid palaces, cathedrals and monuments are built, museums with the richest collections such as the Hermitage and the Russian museum, the famous Mariinsky Theater are constructed.
Saint-Petersburg is often called the Northern Capital of Russia. It is the fourth largest megapolis of Europe. Its geopolitical, intellectual, economical, cultural and historical advantages are unique.

although it's also not strictly legal. As it is understood, there is no reference to the subject in the Russian constitution. This is perhaps one of the reasons why the sexual practice is widespread and so blatant in St. Petersburg Russia and other major Russian cities. Basically finding sex in St. Petersburg Russia is not a problem
If you are fond of games of hazard or wish to try your hand at a little roulette, night-time St. Petersburg has a lot to offer. However, you are no doubt aware that all over the world casinos and clubs hold a risk of unwelcome adventures as well as the promise of pleasure. St. Petersburg is no exception. It is therefore best to restrict yourself to casino and night clubs with a good reputation, where the chance of something unpleasant happening is so slight as to be non-existent St. Petersburg's casinos and night clubs are situated mainly in the city centre and fall into two categories: for young people, and for all ages. The most common kinds of violation occurring in such places are theft and fraud. You might be reassured to know that there are guides, translators, and security escorts whom you may book for any time of day or night. It is better perhaps not to take with you large sums of money. If your intention is to win, you won't need much anyway. And if you intend to lose, you will lose less.
Do not respond to strangers who may offer you drinks, give you advice on how to lay your bets, and go out of their way to gain your friendship. Remember that in Russia, as all over the world, this is not acceptable behaviour and is a sure sign of the existence of a hidden motive.
Consider in advance how you are going to return from your night out. You will always be able to order a taxi, while if you have won a large sum, the casino's special security' service will escort you home.
Always carry with you your passport or other personal identity' document. The police have the right to inspect your documents, but must give their names and ranks and explain why they arc conducting the check. If a member of the police force is not in uniform, he must show you identification; you should look at this carefully.
We think it unlikely, of course, but it is nevertheless possible that you may find yourself in a situation where you are responsible for a violation of the law. If the police arrest you, do not try to resist but go with them to the local police station and ask for an official translator to help when the charge sheet is filled out. The police are obliged to inform your national consulate that you have been arrested.
You should bear in mind that on the territory of the Russian Federation you are subject to Russian law.

Russian women are rightly considered to be among the most beautiful in the world. You will be glad to know that this is not a country of rigid puritanism. You may get to know women almost anywhere: in museums, theatres, or on the streets. But take care not to be insistent when it is clear that your advances are not welcome. If a Russian woman says "No", that is exactly what she means - and nothing else.

Officially, there are no public houses or procurement agencies in Russia. But you will have no difficulty in finding commercial publications offering numerous sexual amusements under the guise of massage, baths, or escort services. Sometimes the purpose of such services is not only to make money through prostitution, but to generate much easier earnings through theft and robbery.

Most often, difficulties arise when foreigners make the acquaintance of women of easy virtue and start drinking strong alcohol in their company. Many such instances end with the foreigner awaking on the following morning to find both the girl and all his valuables gone.

St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is managed by three branches of city power. The first branch is the Administration that is composed of the Governor himself, of the City Government, of the Governor's Office, and also of the Administration's territorial and industrial branches, administrative boards in charge of separate industries. The second is superior and the sole legislative authority - The Parliament of St. Petersburg. The third branch consists of Statutory Court of St. Petersburg, federal courts and city courts.
